Our history
In 1973, brothers Leif and Rolf Abdon build one of the world’s first fully automatic mills on the Scanian plains outside their hometown of Helsingborg.
The flour is first sold to industries and bakeries, but soon the enterprise expands even to retail outlets.
During a trip to Switzerland in 1978, the idea of a Swedish muesli is born. At the Swiss hotel, muesli is served for breakfast and the brothers Abdon see the opportunity to introduce muesli mixes in Sweden as well. The following year sees the introduction of Sunt & Gott, the first Swedish muesli. Sunt & Gott becomes an instant success and is still one of the most sold brands of muesli in Sweden.
In 1983, Finax develops and sells gluten-free products. This is when the work beings which later on results in gluten-free products from being a narrow, medically profiled selection at the chemist to becoming a wide selection available in supermarkets.
In 1997, Abdon Finax acquires Ångbagar’n in Trelleborg. Ångbagar’n which changed its name to Finax Bröd has existed for more than 70 years. We also have a crusty biscuit bakery in Karlskrona.
At the end of the 1990′s, the Bran+ selection was introduced, a muesli series with ingredients which have documented health effects. In 1999, Finax acquires 33 % of the Swedish sales company AH Sälj AB which expands and becomes AFH Sälj AB.
During 2000, Finax introduces more new products than ever: Finax ready bread mixes with yeast packets. Just add water. The Ramlösa Kvarn flour brand, rich in tradition, is reintroduced. The entire gluten-free selection is reintroduced and expanded.
In the following year, Finax invests heavily in Denmark and makes an important breakthrough in buying a third of the Danish sales company Dansk Detail Salg A/S. Our own sales team in Denmark as well as supervision of the Danish product selection – which among other things encompasses a specific organic selection – is one part of the Finax Nordic expansion.
In 2003, Finax acquires 25 % of the Norwegian sales company Markedspook Salg A/S with the purpose of taking a hold of the Norwegian retail sales.
In 2007, Finax AB and Finax Bröd decide to create a common platform for our “Finax” trademark. In 2008, we introduce our new layout based on our values and now you can easily recognise our products both on the bread shelf, muesli shelf and flour shelf.
